Random Observation 1

One of the most common questions you would have heard in your lifetime would be "How Are You?". I am not talking about just any 'how are you' today, it is about this one :
I observed this when one of my friends who lives in US updated her FB status,"Flying to India, with a very heavy heart". I didn't dare to ask her the reason:( specially on a public platform. But i observed a couple of random people(who i know are merely in her friendlist because they happen to be in the same school as hers and are far from being FRIENDS), asking her stupid questions right there like "Hope u r fine.. but what exactly hapened?".Now why would she write " with a very heavy heart" if ALL WAS OK !  I felt really sorry looking at people's mindset :(. It made me check my own timeline recalling what all people say to me and how much they really mean it !
When you are feeling low and update a sad status on FB(Isnt that wot u do too? :D),lots of people would ask,"How are you? What happened?",1/100 people are genuinely concerned for your well being, the rest are only curious !
So here goes my prayer for today,
"Dear Allah, please help me, to be able to differentiate between people who are sincerely my well wishers from those who merely show concern to spice up their own life :P"
Smiles,
Saniya :)

PS : Have you heard a lil uncommon version of the song Raabta ?..Pheli thi siyaah raatein .. must listen :)

Multi Tasking !

A few days back i encountered a perfect example of "flexibility". It was shocking, surprising and impressive at the same time.
So, here goes the encounter in detail ;)...
On a lazy Saturday morning a few days back( not to mention that i find almost ALL Saturday mornings lazy ..n yes the 'lazy' in that phrase is ME), i wasn't feeling well and didn't feel like going into the scorching Pune heat outside but had to get eyebrows done urgently :|
Luckily i knew a Beauty Parlour just outside our society's campus(kept the number for urgencies like these). I had never seen the lady of the parlor or that parlor from inside(didnt look very appealing from the outside :| either), so i decided to give up the idea. The giving-up-idea was forgotten as soon as i looked into the mirror :D.
Not thinking about the consequences, i called up the lady and asked if she could come home with her "tool-kit" and help me ! She gave me an appointment for later that afternoon and promised to come. I got busy in watching Season 4 of How I Met Your Mother(On that note, i think its high time the MOTHER showed up, isn't it, i heard she hasn't turned up even till Season 7 ! Disappointed !).After 2-3 hours the door bell rang...
When i went up to the door, a lady was standing there, with a black bag(read briefcase) in one hand and holding the hand of a 7 year old girl in another. The little girl was wearing a very fancy frock(almost wearable to a birthday party)that was black and orange in combination :| :| (On that note, i simply HATE it when people combine black with orange/yellow). So, i stood there thinking who could these people be. The lady read my puzzled look and told me(before i could ask) that i had called her in the morning. And then it struck me that she was the lady from the parlour.

To be honest i was a little shocked, because she looked pretty hefty :| and she wasnt even smiling(like ALL ladies from beauty parlours usually do). I became prepared for the worst, called her inside, offered her a seat and before i could tell the the little girl to quietly sit in a chair in the corner, she came swirling in and took MY FAVORITE most comfortable chair in the world :(( and sat there happily. Looking at her so happy, i just couldn't say anything to her, infact i asked her name and gave her a chocolate as well. Then we began the "cleansing process", the details of which i am not giving you all :P. In the end, i was surprisingly happy with her performance ;).To top that, she didn't even charge me too much, given that she even came home to offer her services ! Hoping to call her next time too, we began chit-chatting. She asked me about my profession. A little reluctant what to say and what she would understand,
Me : Iam an Engineer.
Quick came her reply :"Hinjewadi" ?
I smiled and said :Yes,Infosys.
Lady : "Ohh,Infy". Followed by a smile(the biggest from her side till now)[Surprise-1]
**Awkward silence, followed by a surprised smile from my side but i didn't say anything else**
Guess she read my expressions again and what she said next blew my mind away.
Lady : "Actually, i also used to work in Infy"
**Sound of breaking glass in my mind, followed by widened eyes**
Guess she read my expressions once MORE(damn 3rd time in a row :|, either i am very expressive,in terms of expressions or too obvious :|)
She completed her sentence with,"I used to be a LADY GUARD in Infosys before my daughter was born"
Trust me, i haven't heard anything more shocking than that ! A lady guard turned into a beautician !I could only say "WOW" ! It is so inspiring to see people say and believe "I can" and nothing is IMPOSSIBLE :). Next time i am given a task which is out of my domain, i think it will definetly be difficult for me to say it to myself,"how can someone expect me to do something like this"
Next day, i heard from my mom, that she even sells some other stuff like, accessories and does some stiching stuff too ! Talk about multi-tasking :). I am really impressed with this lady !! What all things people do to make their living and how flexible they are. Salute !

Making a Choice

Every now and then we find ourselves standing at cross-roads.Life is a result of the choices we make, the roads we choose to travel, the lanes we avoid to pass through, the shortcuts we make, the long drives we take, the little breaks at red traffic lights and sometimes breaking the traffic light itself ! Whether it is as simple as choosing the flavor of your ice-cream,color for your wall paint, status message to put up on FB;or a little more complex like which laptop to buy, what to cook for dinner*ask my mom and she'll tell you it is the most difficult in the world to decide what to cook every day*or where to go for a holiday;or very important and complicated decisions in life like choosing a life partner, going for a major surgery or switching jobs !
Some people find it so easy to take even the BIG decisions of life in a couple of seconds and some people take forever to even pick their hello-tune.
I, for one, am a person who is always in debate with myself, about, what to wear, what to eat, where to go,which movie to watch, which game to play, when to write the next blog :D and soooooo on.I am surrounded by so many which, when, what and whys, that i even dream about them,no kidding, exactly like the pic above ^^.
I wish it was easy to make choices like it happens in our Bollywood movies, you just close your eyes and the right choice magically appears in front of your eyes.**Remember the movie Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha and even RHTDM ? **Alas !In reality it does not happen **We don't even get to say "ab main aankhein band karke koi decision nahi lena chahti?**, when all you get to see/hear on closing your eyes is small bright dots in darkness as a result of some optic science concept**..
So I keep picking clues and indications hoping it is a sign from Allah to help me make the right choice, after all what we think is the best isn't always right for us and what we think is right isn't always the best for us. I would rather stick with "right" than "best". You have to have faith in the justice system**not necessarily of our country:P but the universal one,i.e. things, good or bad will eventually come to you, based on your actions and also your thoughts**
Another interesting twist in decision making is that choices aren't always in binary, infact most of the times they are not. You cannot answer every question with a plain YES or NO.Also, sometimes you cannot give a final answer straightaway because the final decision is based on the results of different steps in reaching the final answer. Remember flow charts ? I think they are a perfect example of how life moves !

The only difference is that life isn't as simple. When we move one step ahead, we don't even know whether we'll have a choice to go to the next step or will it be a dead end. Life is so much like those series of novels "Goosebumps" we read as children, they had horror, fiction, suspense, thrill and yet they were funny. The part i liked most about them was that,at regular intervals the author threw a few choices, like, the protagonist comes at a place in the middle of a forest and at the end of the road there are three doors, now the author throws a twist,
To proceed with the golden door Go to Page 27, Or,
To proceed with the silver door Go to Page 14 Or,
To proceed with the wooden door Go to Page 45 Or,
Go back and you'll be torn apart by hungry wolves !
This way, we could actually in a way make our own story. So sometimes, choices add an extra spice in our otherwise monotonous life ! If we were sure about everything, may be our brain cells would die out sooner ;)

Why am i writing this is that I have seen people(including myself) planning, planning and planning. Making castles in the air, creating a situation in their heads, writing a complete if-else-then program of their lives and suddenly out of nowhere life throws an exception !!! Your neat, precise and efficient program starts giving warnings and error messages and sometimes shuts down all together. This does not mean that we shouldn't plan about the future at all. But, lets just be alert and aware ! Lets be concerned but do not get worried. Lets not waste too much time in visualizing the future, lets not postpone our holidays, lets not forget to love our dear ones and tell them too......................lets celebrate today :)

Favorite Book !

Q : How do you conclude that the book you just finished reading was one of the best books you have ever come across ?
Umm My Answer : When you start reading the book, you don't feel like keeping it down for any reason however important it be. You feel like absorbing every single line and every single word of it.You even re-read a few lines, smiling, sometimes crying and sometimes even crying happily, imagining the scenes, feeling for the characters as if they were real. You are so curious to know about "what-will-happen-next" in the book that you even forget about "what-happened-last" in your own life :D.But, doesn't it disappoint you a little when the right hand side of the book starts becoming thinner as compared to the left hand side ?And finally, when the book ends[and btw i like ONLY happy endings.],i feel happy for a few minutes but then i start missing the book. I wish there was no end to it, i wish i could read more, i don't feel like coming out of that world the book had created. And when i miss it even after 2 days, i decide ... that was one of the best books i ever read !
So, what's your answer? :)

P.S. : I suppose the same goes for movies too huh ?

It's EID tomorrow ! And not just im NOT going home, i haven't even got a new dress for eid :( I have no plans :( I have no clue what i'm gonna do tomorrow. This is bad ! Growing up is BAD :(
Back home eid was soo much fun ! I am wondering now whether i m living a robotic life ! What did i want and what am i actually doin?Am i really on the right path ??My life has become simply a journey between leave plans for home.I wait for one and then when i come back from home my wait for the next one starts. So basically i LIVE life for just 8 days in 3 months !OMG, im very boring : .N i complain a lot :

Runnnnnnn

Some obvious places where you find people running, competing with each other [N of course I am not talking about races here]:

-->At the entry of screens at theatres as soon as the gates are opened. When the seating arrangement is already decided I don’t know what all the rush is for K and the same happens at the exit as well.

-->In case of a fire alarm, everybody wants to be the first one to come out and this results in obvious chaos.

-->In long distance journeys in buses, in the morning as soon as the bus stops everybody heads for the door :D

-->Also, in trains, as soon as the train halts whether it be a station or the middle of a forest some people always run out of the train and decide to come in only at the last moment and create confusion at the door

-->Whenever there’s a fight/argument on the street, people rush in from all corners to collate their share of gossip

-->Some people need to race/compete for even basic things like clean drinking water :(

-->Towards Pune DC Infy Bus terminal at 4:59pm, 5:59pm, 7:14pm, 8:14pm and 9:14pm :D.

-->Whenever a lonely bicycle is spotted in the infy campus [specially “down hill

-->I always find people hurrying, rushing, some even running to stand in queues for coupons/food in the food court. Infact some people come in gangs, one would check out the menu, one would get the coupons, one would already be in the queue for food and another would go hunt for an empty table. It’s almost like a relay race

-->[This one is fictitious] On the BB, people race among themselves to come up with the quickest, wittiest, smartest [and some dumbest :]replies. If I try imagining the scene, how would it be like if these people were discussing things in reality face to face, it appears no less than a race !

U can you add to the list .. i m sure it is not as short as this !

Doctor Doctor .

When in school i read/heard something which was like :
1st std : Eating an apple a day, keeps the doctor away.
7th std : Eating an apple a day, keeps the doctor away [ but if the doctor is handsome, keep the apple away ;) ...ssssh :D]
PS : These days, my mom is making all efforts to keep the doctor away :( :( :( [and btw .. i mean away from ME :p]
